Officials warn of potential fire hazard with recalled power banks
North Bay Fire and Emergency Services says Lithium-ion battery fires are a growing concern locally and across the country.
“These fires ignite without any warning and grow rapidly and violently,” says Chris Nichol, Fire Prevention Officer.
He’s highlighting a Health Canada recall of approximately 20,000 power banks in Canada, due to a potential fire hazard.
It involves LOGiiX Piston Power 5000 Mag Power Banks that were manufactured in China and sold between Jan. 2022 and July 2025.
They include:
- Model number: LGX-13302, in the colour black
- Model number: LGX-13303, in the colour white
- Model number: LGX-13304, in the colour navy or midnight blue
- Model number: LGX-13839, in the colour lavender
- Model number: LGX-13840, in the colour blue
Health Canada says a small number of power banks may overheat when used to charge a device or when charging the power banks, posing a fire hazard.
“As of February 9, 2026, the company has received four reports of incidents in Canada, and no reports of injuries,” states the federal Recalls and Safety Alerts website.
Officials advise consumers to stop using the recalled product and contact LOGiiX for a replacement power bank.
