Ontario’s integrated employment services expanding to our region
The province is expanding its integrated employment services to three more regions, including the northeast.
Officials say it will help connect jobseekers, including those on social assistance and people with disabilities, with rewarding careers.
Planning began earlier this year with full implementation expected by early next year.
Collège Boréal is the service system manager for the northeast.
“Our government has delivered on our promise to transform pre-employment and employment services to help people leave social assistance when they are ready to work, empowering them to find rewarding jobs where they can support themselves and their families,” says David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
The province says this is the final expansion of the program, which includes 15 regions across Ontario.
Officials say nearly 197,000 people have been put on a path to a job through Ontario’s integrated approach to delivering employment services.
