OPP investigating after human remains found east of Mattawa
The OPP has launched an investigation following the discovery of human remains east of Mattawa.
On Sunday morning around 8:00 a.m., the OPP says officers responded to a report of suspected human remains on North River Road, north of Cedar Lake, in Head, Clara and Maria Township.
The individual has been identified as 26-year-old Hakim Muhikira of Ottawa.
Police say preliminary information suggests there are no signs of a broader threat and residents may notice an increased police presence in the area as the investigation unfolds. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
