OPP Officer Cleared

Ontario’s police watchdog has cleared a provincial police officer of any wrongdoing after the arrest of a 29-year-old man in South River last November.
The Special Investigations Unit says as officers approached the man at a gas station on Highway 124 to arrest him for a drug offence, he drove off.
Soon after, he stopped the vehicle and got out.
The SIU says after a struggle with police the man was arrested and was later diagnosed with three fractured left ribs and a collapsed lung.
The SIU’s report says there’s no evidence the force used to arrest the man was unwarranted and determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe an officer committed a criminal offence involving the man’s arrest or injuries.
