OPP reports increase in ‘wheel-off’ incidents involving camper trailers

By Richard Coffin

The North Bay OPP is asking camper trailer owners to check their wheels.

This after they say they’ve seen an increase in wheel-off incidents involving the trailers.

“Many of these incidents are preventable with a few simple pre-trip checks,” states a post on social media.

Police say they include:
– Inspect your tires for wear and damage
– Check tire pressure when tires are cold
– Ensure wheel lug nuts are properly torqued
– Complete a walk-around inspection before every trip

The OPP says proper maintenance prevents breakdowns, protects your investment, and keeps everyone on Ontario’s roads safe.
