OPP taking part in Operation Impact this long weekend
Road safety is the focus for Northeast Region Ontario Provincial Police this long weekend.
Operation Impact starts Friday, Oct. 11 and runs through Monday, Oct. 14.
The goal of the national campaign is to reduce collisions, injuries and fatalities on Canadian highways and trails.
Supported by Transport Canada and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, the OPP will target the "Big 4" driving behaviours, including:
- alcohol and drug impaired driving
- distracted driving
- aggressive driving (inc. speeding)
- lack of or improper seatbelt use
Residents across the northeast can expect increased police patrols this weekend, including RIDE programs and all-terrain vehicle patrols.
