Ottawa seeking input on emergency management
MP Pauline Rochefort is encouraging area residents to offer up their thoughts on federal emergency management.
Ottawa is seeking public input after the second-worst wildfire season in Canadian history. The public engagement period opened at the end of November and runs through the end of February.
“We are seeking Canadians’ views on how the federal role in emergency management should evolve in managing all forms of hazards, from natural disasters to national security threats,” says Rochefort, in a social media post. “This will build on the significant investments in Budget 2025 that are strengthening protection for communities across the country.”
She says roundtables and meetings with Indigenous and provincial governments and leaders will also be held.
