Over 100 pairs of new winter boots donated to those experiencing homelessness
A recent winter boot campaign for those experiencing homelessness resulted in ‘an incredible outpouring of kindness from the community’.
That from Leah Pierce, Chairperson for the Compassionate Committee for the Homeless in North Bay.
Along with donating 105 pairs of brand-new winter boots, the committee collected eight trunks of donated hats, mitts, scarves and thermal socks.
Blankets and warm clothes were also donated.
Over the past five years, the committee has donated 400 pairs of brand-new boots to frontline organizations who support people experiencing homelessness.
They include The AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area, Open Arms Café, Catholic Charities, Children’s Aid Society, the Cold Weather Housing Response Program, Tracy’s Heart and Hands, Operation Mercy Relief Street Ministry, and True Self – Debwewendizwin.
The committee is now looking to spring, making plans to host an Easter Dinner and hold their Backpacks of Love summer campaign.
