Owners of Howe’s Lighting & Fan Company set to retire
A local business that has shone a light on the community for 40 years getting ready to close.
Murray and Cathy Howe with Howe’s Lighting & Fan Company have announced their retirement and closing of their business.
The store opened as Living Lighting at Northgate in 1986, then took on its current name when opening on Fisher Street ten years later.

Officials say it became the only dedicated lighting showroom north of Toronto.
“What began as a business became a lifelong passion,” says Murray Howe. “We’ve had the privilege of helping generations of families build, renovate, and brighten their homes. We are incredibly grateful for the support North Bay and Northern Ontario have shown us over the past 40 years.”
To mark their retirement, Howe’s Lighting & Fan Company is hosting its Retirement Closing Event beginning Wednesday, June 17.
“This isn’t just the closing of a store,” says Cathy Howe. “It’s a chance for us to thank our customers, friends, suppliers, and everyone who has been part of our story.”
The showroom is closed June 15 and 16 as preparations are made for the final event and will reopen Wednesday, June 17.
