Parks Creek Backflood Control Operations

Parks Creek Backflood Control Operations

North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) continues to operate the Parks Creek Backflood Control structure, located at Eva Wardlaw Conservation Area at the mouth of the Parks Creek on Lake Nipissing near Lakeshore Drive and Marshall Avenue in North Bay.

“Four extra pumps are being placed at the dam to help increase capacity and be prepared the best that we can for the upcoming storm that starts this Saturday” says Chitra Gowda, NBMCA CAO and Flood Warning Coordinator. “Depending on the weather conditions, water levels in Lake Nipissing and Parks Creek may increase,” said Ms. Gowda.  A Flood Warning continues for the Lake Nipissing shoreline in the City of North Bay and Municipality of Callander and the Parks Creek watershed, according to NBMCA.

The City of North Bay has two sandbag filling stations at Sunset Park, at the end of Sunset Boulevard, and at Champlain Park, located at the end of Premier Road. If you have a flood emergency, please contact your municipality. If you live in an unincorporated township, please contact the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry – North Bay District.

The general public is advised of these messages through www.nbmca.ca with the flood status icon and a link to information about current conditions.
