Police Week 2026 and Canada Road Safety Week

The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) is proud to join police services across Ontario in recognizing Police Week 2026 and Canada Road Safety Week, taking place May 10–16. This year’s provincial theme, “Protecting Ontario through Service,” highlights the dedication of police officers, 9-1-1 communicators, civilian professionals, and community partners who work together to keep communities safe.

Throughout the week, NBPS will showcase the many ways members serve and support the community through proactive policing, education, and community engagement initiatives.

As part of Police Week 2026 and Canada Road Safety Week:

  • NBPS, Ontario Provincial Police North-East Region, North Bay Fire and Emergency Services, District of Nipissing Paramedic Services, Victim Services of Nipissing District will host a community information event at the Northgate Shopping Centre on May 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • NBPS Auxiliary Officers will provide information about the CAMSafe program throughout the community.
  • Traffic enforcement and education initiatives will focus on aggressive driving, distracted driving, seatbelt compliance, impaired driving, and pedestrian safety.

“This week presents us with an opportunity to recognize the outstanding work our officers and police professionals do every day, in collaboration with emergency service partners,” said Acting Inspector Long. “It also gives communities across Ontario an opportunity to come together to honour and celebrate police personnel for the extraordinary work they do in keeping our communities safe.”

Police Week in Ontario is sponsored annually by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General, and forms part of National Police Week led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
