Powassan approves seasonal occupancy plan for Trout Creek Community Centre

By Richard Coffin

The Trout Creek Community Centre (TCCC) will be open for the 2026-27 ice season.

Council in Powassan recently approved an engineering firm’s occupancy plan for the arena, through April 30, 2027.

“Tacoma Engineers has been working with the municipality to identify and detail repair and restoration work related to deteriorating building columns,” states a letter from the firm. “While the municipality analyzes the long-term plan for the region, it has been requested that the building be cleared for use for an additional winter season.”

Along with structural monitoring, conditions to allow the facility to remain open include retaining and maintaining all short-term bracing currently installed, along with monitoring and managing snow load.

Officials with the Trout Creek Community Centre Fundraising Committee are welcoming the approval.

“This is an important step forward for our community and means the TCCC can once again welcome residents, families, skaters and community activities this winter,” states a post on social media.
