Powassan Library receives additional Funding
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is investing $22,400 through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Resilient Communities Fund for the Municipality of Powassan over 12 months, to build its resilience and sustainability by increasing staff hours and purchasing new technology to bring the Powassan library’s pre-teen tech programs back to pre-pandemic levels.
“Non-profit organizations such as the Powassan Library are critical to the success of the community, delivering programming that helps people live healthier, happier lives,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “That’s why our government is proud to continue to support Ontarians through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.”
“We are thrilled to be receiving this Ontario Trillium Foundation Resilience grant. The benefits to our patrons are significant. First, they will have access to state-of-the-art computers, laptops, and iPads. Furthermore, and maybe even more importantly, they will have greater access to Tech Help, since this grant adds 8 more hours per week for an IT staff to provide one-on-one technology help to members of the public. Additionally, we will now have a Meta Quest 2 VR Headset, which will provide members of the public an opportunity to experience total immersion with 3D positional audio, hand tracking and easy to use controller. It should prove to be quite popular, especially with our teen population.” stated Marie Rosset, CEO, Powassan Library.
