Powassan serving up maple syrup and more

By Richard Coffin

The Powassan Maple Syrup Festival is back on Saturday.

Along with three pancake breakfasts and a baked bean lunch there are lumberjack and magic shows, live music, a kidzone and nearly 140 vendors. They’ll be located along Main Street and in the Sportsplex.

Various activities are also taking place at the library.

The opening ceremony and pancake flipping contest with Mayor Peter McIsaac and other dignitaries takes place at 10 am on Main Street.

Offsite parking is available at Evan Hughes Excavating (118 Highway 534) or 250 Clark Street with shuttle buses running from 9 am to 4 pm.

Free buses are also running to Mathew’s Maple Syrup for tours of the sugar bush.
