Prior, Douglas James

(April 21, 1945- September 27th, 2026)

Words cannot express the deepest sense of loss and heartbreak at the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Son of the late Jim and Ruth (Croutch) of Sundridge. Doug leaves behind his wife Colette (Laporte), sons Michael (deceased), Justin, Troy (Cheri) and his little girl Terri (Jess), three grandchildren, his pride and joy Joshua, Miranda and Braeden. Predeceased by his brother Ken, Doug also leaves behind his brother Keith (Lill deceased) of Red Deer and his sisters Beth Scott (Joe deceased) of Sundridge and Betty Danchuk (Tim) of Waterford.

 Doug loved fishing and hunting and was happiest when planning outings with his buddies Gerry, Russ, Tom and Henry. He loved spending time with his sons, the many nephews, in laws, and the Johnstone crew in Sundridge, telling stories and lies and mostly laughing- who could forget that laugh? Doug and his business partner and friend Gerry ran Wasi Corners for many years. He loved the people and the many friends he made there. And to Henry, a friend in a million, his partner in crime, the one he counted on daily; thank you for making the last year so perfect for him and with Gerry and Russ, that last trip to Chapleau was a memorable one. Rest in peace Doug. Know that you were loved and cherished by all who knew you. Forever in our hearts- till we meet again.

 As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held on October 17, 2026 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 599 (30 Legion Drive, North Bay, ON), from 1pm to 4pm.
