Project Genesis brings ‘Significant number of offenders to justice’
By Richard Coffin Wednesday, Dec. 18th, 2024
Results are in from a city police bail compliance and warrant execution campaign.
Through Project Genesis, the North Bay Police Service says officers cleared 104 arrest warrants for a variety of offences.
They include sexual assault, assault with a weapon, theft, robbery with violence, drug possession, firearms related charges and more.
Police say many arrest warrants were also for failing to comply with release orders and failing to attend court.
This amounts to a 53% compliance rate.
Eleven compliance checks were completed involving offenders on the Sex Offender Registry with all found to be compliant with their reporting requirements.
“I want to congratulate the members of our Offender Management Team for their exemplary work on Project Genesis,” says Jeff Warner, Inspector of Operations for the North Bay Police Service. “Their dedicated work helped to bring a significant number of offenders to justice in our community and also helped to take over $22,000-worth of illegal drugs off the streets of North Bay.”
He also has a reminder for anyone out on bail and violating their conditions or anyone who has a warrant issued against them.
“We will find you and you will face the consequences of your actions,” says Warner.
If you have information about an individual who is violating their bail or probation conditions or who is wanted on a warrant, contact the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555 and press 5 to speak with an officer.
