Public input on redrawing West Nipissing’s wards need to be in by Friday

The deadline is fast approaching for public input into West Nipissing redrawing its ward boundaries.
All comments must be received by Friday, Aug. 15.
They’re being accepted online and by email.
The current wards have been in place since amalgamation in 1999.
“The municipality has undergone many demographic changes and looks very different today than it did in 1999,” states a previous notice from the municipality. “The once-fragmented cluster of separate towns and villages has become a vibrant, amalgamated, and growing community with common goals and a vision for a united future.”
A section south of Front Street (Highway 17) in Sturgeon Falls, from Nipissing to Roy streets, would change wards.
Other changes would see Ward 4 extend all the way to the eastern end of the municipality, taking in some of what is now Ward 5.
Under the proposal, Ward 7 would extend all the way to the western boundary of the municipality, taking in a swath of what is now Ward 6.
Visit the municipal website for more information.
Recommendations to council are expected by early September.
