Public invited to learn more about fraud prevention

Fraud prevention and awareness is the focus of a public presentation on Tuesday.

It’s taking place at 3 pm at Barclay House Retirement Residence.

Officials with the OPP and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre will give those in attendance the knowledge needed to protect themselves from fraud.

The centre reports, as of March 31, nearly 13,000 fraud reports have been processed, with nearly 9,100 victims and $165 million lost to fraud.

$648 million was lost to fraud last year, with over 36,000 victims and over 51,600 reports of fraud.

RSVP is requested for Tuesday’s presentation by emailing natalie.zwolak@barclayhouse.ca or by calling 705-476-6585 (ext. 1001).
