Rahnmet North Bay Panthers 9U baseball team go undefeated

The Rahnmet North Bay Panthers 9U baseball team went undefeated in the 9U Select Vaughn tournament last weekend. It's the second time this season they have finished first in tournament play.

The gold medal game came down to the Panthers and the Richmond Hill Pheonix Baseball Club, with the Panthers prevailing thanks to a big second inning. After the Pheonix opened up a 2-0 lead in the first, North Bay put up seven runs in the second frame. The big blow coming from Jacob Wrixon who hit a two-run triple. The Panthers went on to score at least a run over the next three innings, with Adrian Hosein going 3-3 on the day, driving in three runs and starting a key 6-4-3 double play.
The Panthers defence was on display all game as they held Richmond Hill off the board until the fifth, where the Phoenix managed to scrape across one run, but it didn't matter in the end as the Panthers took the game 11-3. Ben Lafromboise, Blaise Prytula, Elijah McCann, Michael Patreau, and Kieran Vlach all had multi-hit games, driving in at least one run each.

The Panthers went 3-0 in the round robin play to earn a bye to the semi-finals, where they beat the Thornhill Reds Select 9U team by a score of 21-11. Jude Martel went 4-4 with two home runs and four RBIs in that contest, while Hosein, Laframboise, Wrixon and Patreau also went yard.

The Panthers opened the tournament with a 16-3 win over Collingwood. They followed that up with a 16-6 win over Newmarket and a 22-3 win over Markham.
