Rally for Food: Hauliday!

The Canadore College Panthers men’s volleyball team is partnering with Alan and Michelle’s No Frills for “Rally for Food: Fill the Highlanders for the “Hauliday”.

There is no better way to celebrate the Christmas season than by supporting this community effort which will benefit the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption and The Gathering Place for their holiday meals.

Members of the Canadore Panthers team will be outside of Alan and Michelle’s No Frills at 975 McKeown Avenue on Saturday, December 14th from 11:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. collecting donations.

Their goal is to fill the Canadore vehicles with enough supplies to donate to the Christmas Day Dinner the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption is hosting for our community, with all surplus being donated to the Gathering Place. “It’s important for No Frills to get involved in the community, especially at this time of the year. It’s all about giving back to the community, so we’ve decided to match each item donated,” said Alan and Michelle.

The Panthers team is sparking community involvement for its student athletes in North Bay. “Christmas is a time for giving, and the teams are always willing to give back,” said assistant coach, Novindera Budhram. The Christmas Day Dinner is a volunteer-led event that addresses food insecurity issues in our community around this time of year.

Head Coach Mark Hopper is passionate about getting his team involved in the North Bay community. “Creating community connection is so important and seems to be diminishing in youth,” he said. “We want to bring that back. If we can help local families and people enjoy a Christmas dinner, there’s nothing else we should be doing on a Saturday afternoon.”
