Reynald Joseph Sabourin

Reynald Joseph Sabourin

Reynald Joseph Sabourin, born on October 12th, 1935, sadly died at the age of 89 due to a sudden illness. In the early hours of the morning on August 12th, Reynald found peace in his last moments, having left the world with a smile on his face. It is a happy fact in our minds that Reynald will not be alone in his journey to heaven, for he has many people to greet him at the golden gates. He was predeceased by his mother Francoise, father Wilfrid, his sister Monique and brother Rodrigue as well as his spouse’s parents, Ormeus and Dora Bedard and his spouse’s sister and her husband, Lorraine and Frank Ryan.

Though we know he will be taken care of, Reynald is survived by many. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Jeannette (Bedard) of 64 years; and his children, daughters Nicole Sabourin (Carol) and Lise Boldt (late Brian), and son, Rodrigue Sabourin (Pascale). He will also be forever cherished by his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Koda, Tanner and Micheline Boldt and Kieren Sabourin. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews and friends who will sadly miss him. Reynald, please be at peace knowing that your memory will live on through the people that will always love you.

Reynald worked as a draftsman for the M.T.O. for a good portion of his life. As a young boy, Reynald had a passion for ski jumping; having broken five pairs of skis in just one winter. In later years he enjoyed skiing at Mont Antoine in Mattawa. He also enjoyed golfing. He always loved getting together with his golfing buddies.

Participating in sports was not the only way Reynald enjoyed them; he was also an avid fan of the Montreal Canadians. He loved to wear his Montreal hats, frequently receiving comments, either at the mall or at the Empire Retirement Residence. This gave him the opportunity to brag about their many past wins. Reynald was also an active member of the North Bay Elks Lodge Branch # 25.

During our Canadian winters, Reynald and Jeannette were snowbirds, spending sixteen consecutive years in Florida. A warmer environment was always preferred by Reynald (As you would usually find him freezing in rooms in which other occupants are melting from the heat). During his time in Florida, Reynald and Jeannette would invite their daughter’s family over to spend two weeks with them. He took on an active role in the lives of his grandchildren throughout the course of their yearly visits; he and Jeannette loved to plan the most extravagant outings for the family.

Although we are no longer graced with Reynald’s physical presence, his spirit will continue to be with us for all our lives. Thank you for being with us as long as you were Reynald, for without you, none of us would be who we are today. We thank you for that, may you rest in peace.

The family will be receiving visitors at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Monday August 25, 2025, between the hours of 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm in the McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel. A private family interment will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flower donations to the Alzheimer's society of Canada or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Many thanks to the Empire Retirement Residence for their loving and caring ways. Online Condolences can be made at ww.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
