Richard Rene Cadotte

August 17, 1965 – July 17, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Rene Cadotte at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on July 17, 2025, at the age of 59.

Born in Saint-Édouard-de-Fabre, Quebec, Richard moved to North Bay, Ontario, where he spent the majority of his life. He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Alex and Jarod, his former partner Rina, and his brothers, Gilles and Robin.

A true jack-of-all-trades, Richard was known for his skill and passion in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, irrigation, landscaping, drafting, and design. He had a gift for planning projects with meticulous detail and took pride in every task he tackled. He was deeply creative, expressing himself through photography, canvas painting, reusing and repurposing materials, and planning every project with precision and care. His movie collection was vast, and his love of film reflected his appreciation for storytelling and craftsmanship.

Richard’s presence was anything but quiet, he was outspoken, passionate, and direct. Yet, he expressed his love most often through action: by showing up, lending a hand, or building something beautiful and lasting.

Some of Richard’s most cherished moments were spent with his sons. He shared many hands-on projects with Jarod, often inviting him to help even when the work was complex, always with the hope of passing on what he knew. Their unforgettable trip to Russia was filled with new experiences and meaningful time together. Richard also treasured his visits with Alex in Alberta, where they explored the Rockies and marveled at places like Lake Louise. He was in awe walking across the frozen lake, just one of the many moments where his quiet wonder shone through.

Richard was also a dedicated volunteer, serving as a charity director for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation for over 15 years. He lived with Crohn’s disease for much of his life and brought both strength and empathy to his advocacy work.

A proud dog owner, Richard found joy and companionship in his four-legged friends, and he always had a soft spot for animals.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Hillside Funeral Services. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by the celebration at 3:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend and share in remembering Richard’s life and legacy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada or to the Dialysis Department at the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation in Richard’s memory.
