Ridgebacks defeat Lakers 4-1

A tremendous season came to an end Saturday afternoon in Round 1 of the OUA Playoffs for the Nipissing University Lakers men's soccer team.

The Lakers, who set a record for most points in a season this year, dropped their first round playoff matchup to the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, falling short by a final of 4-1.

Entering the game, the teams had identical records and split the season series, with each team winning their home game.

The Ridgebacks took control of the game just before the 30-minute mark, scoring twice in a the span of two minutes to go up 2-0.

They would add another goal before the halftime break to make it 3-0.

A late goal sealed the game, before the Lakers broke through with their long goal of the game, as Josiah Estephane found the back of the net near the final whistle.

Both teams pressured throughout the contest and had their chances, but in the end, the Ridgebacks came away with the win, advancing to the quarter-finals.
