Rita Tremblay

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Marie Tremblay (née Foisy), who left this world peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on July 16, 2025, at the age of 86.

Rita was born on March 7, 1939, to Mathilda (née Ledoux) and Hamel Foisy in Rouyn, Quebec. Her journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit that inspired all who knew her.

Rita’s love story began at The Old Chicago Restaurant in North Bay, where she met her beloved husband, Raymond, a regular patron who quickly became the love of her life. They were united in marriage on April 22, 1957, in Bonfield, Ontario, and together they built a beautiful life filled with cherished memories over their 67 years of marriage.

Rita enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a bookkeeper with Dominion Stores, from which she retired after 36 years. Her dedication and hard work were a testament to her character, and she instilled these values in her family. Rita was a masterful seamstress and cook, known for hosting many cherished family dinners where all were welcomed, and there was always enough food to feed a small army. Her homemade jams and relishes were legendary, earning her a special place in the hearts of her community.

Rita Marie Tremblay will be remembered for her grace, humor, quick wit and the love she shared with everyone around her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Rita’s greatest joys were found in her roles as a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother. She is survived by her husband Raymond and two daughters, Nola Tremblay (Dave) and Nathalie Lawson (Michael, deceased), as well as her beloved granddaughter, Madison Lawson (Daniel Garcia). Rita’s love for her family was boundless, and she was a source of unwavering support and encouragement for them all.

She is also survived by her siblings Ted (Paulette) Foisy, Grace (Ken) Wren, Richard (Carol) Foisy, Simon (Crystal) Foisy. She was predeceased by her parents Hamel and Mathilda, and siblings Emile Foisy, Georgette Foisy (John), Jean-Louis Foisy (Francine Guillemette – surviving), Fleurette Bessette and Lise Paul (Aurel - surviving). Rita will be greatly missed by many extended family members and friends alike.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Betty and Ashley, Rita’s dedicated personal support workers, whose unwavering support allowed her to remain in the comfort of her home until her passing. Their compassion and kindness made a significant difference in her life, and the family is forever grateful for their presence. Additionally, a special thank you goes to Tammy, the scheduler extraordinaire, whose meticulous planning and organization ensured that Rita received the care she needed. We are also grateful to Dr. Spencer and all the Paramed nurses involved. Your efforts did not go unnoticed, and we appreciate the love and dedication you brought to your work.

A Mass, celebrating Rita’s life will be held at Paroisse Ste Bernadette in Bonfield, Ontario, on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 11:00 am. The Tremblay family warmly invites all to join them for a luncheon at the parish hall beside Paroisse Ste Bernadette following the service.

In honour of Rita’s legacy, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a cause or organization of your choice, reflecting her spirit of generosity and kindness.
