Road work on Highway 64 north of Sturgeon Falls

By Richard Coffin

The Municipality of West Nipissing says spring and summer construction work will mean highway improvements and lane closures in Crystal Falls and Field.

Officials say the Ministry of Transportation is undertaking nearly 21 km of construction on Highway 64 (north), with just over one km of work on Highway 575, west of Highway 64.

They say it includes grading, drainage improvements, granular placement, paving, electrical work, and culvert replacement.

“To complete the project, lane closures will be required at various locations within the construction limits,” states a release from the municipality. “These closures will generally occur from sunrise to sunset, Monday through Friday. Most closures will affect only one lane at a time.”

The road work is expected to be completed in July 2027.
