Robert (Bob) Comstock

Robert (Bob) Comstock

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Robert (Bob) Oliver Comstock on July 6, 2025 at the NBRHC in his 93rd year. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 60 years Yolande (Seguin) in 2020. Son of the late Victoria Comstock (Richer). He was also predeceased by his siblings Eddie, Albert and Evelyn (Gonzalez).

Born in Sainte-Rose-de-Lima Quebec and raised in Timmins, Bob moved to Temagami in the 1950's and he and Yolande settled there together after marrying in 1960, raising 3 children Donna (Don), Mark (Rachelle) and Vicky (Bill). He was a proud devoted grandfather to Shawna (Colin), Christina (Dan), Bradley, Cameron (Amanda), David (Lisa), Christopher (Allison) and Daniel (Renee).

He was a great-Grandfather to Lucas, Oliver, Charlotte, Cohen, Evren, Myles and Rowen.

With Grade 6 education, Bob started his career with the ONR at he age of 12 working as a telegraph messenger on a bicycle. He retired in1987 as a Clerk in the freight office in New Liskeard. He spent many years in the fall, working as Manager of a remote Goose hunting camp at Fort Albany.

Throughout his vibrant life, he was best known as a passionate trapper, fisherman, gardener and cribbage guru. In addition, Bob also had his own airplane, and enjoyed flying to New Liskeard to work, visiting people at campsites and cottages, and fishing off the pontoons. This unique ability allowed him to create unforgettable experiences for family and friends.

He found solace and joy in the great outdoors sharing countless adventures with family and friends, helping others when in need and generously inviting everyone to oh, so many fish fries. Bob's legacy will live on through his family who will remember him for his unwavering love, guidance and his ability to find joy in the simple things-a good fishing rod, a well tied trapline, knitting and repairing snowshoes and the sound of laughter echoing over the lake.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr Brian and Dr Kathryn Shaw for their loving and compassionate care over decades. In addition to the staff at the NBRHC and Barclay House for their exceptional care. Heartfelt thanks to friends from Temagami who assisted us to support him to stay in his house as long as he did.

Please join us on September 13, 2025 for a Celebration of Life for both Yolande and Bob at the North Bay Museum in North Bay from 1pm-4pm. Please bring a hand written story or two to share with us as a keepsake. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to NBRHC.
