In Loving Memory of Robert (Bob) Joseph Turgeon
It is with deep sadness that the family of Robert “Bob” Turgeon announces his passing, leaving behind a legacy of service, family, friendship, and adventure.
Born to Victor and Rita Turgeon, Bob was a proud son, devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and loyal brother. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Turgeon and is lovingly remembered by his brothers Roger, Victor, Rheal, and David Turgeon.
Bob shared a loving and devoted marriage of 56 years to his wife, Bonnie (Santary) Turgeon, who was the love of his life and his partner through life's many adventures. Together they built a family that was the center of his world. He was a proud father to Robert and Melody, Kevin (Deceased), Tim and Dione, and Michael and Krysta, and nothing brought him greater joy than watching his family grow.
His greatest title was that of Pepere. He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren Aidan, Cullen, Ronan, Allie, Sophie, Kailyn, and Carter Turgeon. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or words of encouragement, Pepere's love and guidance will remain with them forever.
Bob dedicated 32 years of distinguished service with the North Bay Police Force retiring as Inspector, serving his community with professionalism, integrity, and compassion. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of his colleagues and the gratitude of countless citizens whose lives he touched. His commitment to public service reflected his strong sense of duty and his desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Outside of his career, Bob embraced life with enthusiasm, passion, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He looked forward each year to winter travels to Texas, where he enjoyed warmer days in his later years, new friendships, and cherished time spent with Bonnie. A lifelong lover of outdoor activities, he spent many seasons coaching skiing at Laurentian Hill in North Bay, helping young skiers develop their skills and confidence while sharing his love of the sport. Bob also enjoyed camping with family and friends, creating countless memories around campfires and in the great outdoors. He was a proud member of the Branch 23 Pipe Band, where he formed lasting friendships and took great pride in contributing to the traditions and camaraderie of the band. Bob also found great happiness in horseback riding, sharing a special bond with his beloved horse Iceman. The peace, freedom, and connection to nature he experienced while riding reflected his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Whether on the ski hills, around a campsite, performing with the pipe band, travelling with Bonnie, or riding his horse through the countryside, Bob lived life to the fullest and inspired others with his adventurous spirit, warm heart, and love of family and community.
Those who knew Bob will remember his warm smile, quick wit, generous heart, and unwavering dedication to family and friends. He lived a life defined by service, kindness, and adventure, and his influence will continue to be felt through the many people who were fortunate enough to know him.
Though he will be deeply missed, Bob's memory will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, extended family, friends, former colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the staff on B1 at North Bay Regional Health Centre who were there every day, helping Bob through his daily challenges and providing compassionate care and support.
Family receiving friends at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd, on Saturday August 8th from 3 until 5 pm. A celebration of life will follow at 5pm. Following the celebration of life, the family invite you to join them for a reception with beverages and snacks at the Elks Club commencing at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
