Rotary’s Lobsterfest supports Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Winter Games
The Rotary Club of Nipissing says Lobsterfest has become one of its premier fundraising events, with Special Olympics athletes benefiting this year.
$15,000 was raised at the recent event in support of the upcoming 2027 Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Winter Games in North Bay.
A cheque was presented last week.
“Rotary is proud to support initiatives that strengthen our community, especially those that invest in children and youth,” says President Tammy Cameron, Rotary Club of Nipissing. “We look forward to welcoming athletes from across Ontario and showing them what North Bay is all about.”
The 2027 games will welcome Special Olympics athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and families from across Ontario to North Bay.
The North Bay Police Service is the organizational lead for the games.
“The support that organizations such as the Rotary Club of Nipissing have provided for the Winter Games thus far is tremendous,” says Cst Merv Shantz, Games Manager. “Without local sponsorship, this event, and Special Olympics as a whole, would not happen. Special Olympics changes lives, and we are honoured to be part of this incredible movement.”
The games are set for Jan. 28-31, 2027
