Russell Colvin

Russell Colvin

With great love and fondness, we celebrate the life of Russell Colvin, who passed away on January 5, 2025, at the age of 81. Known for his infectious smile, sharp wit, and boundless generosity, Russell brought joy and warmth to everyone he encountered. Whether it was through his devotion to family, his friendships, or his professional endeavors, Russell's positive energy and unshakeable optimism left a lasting impression. While we will miss him dearly, his legacy of laughter, kindness, and resilience will continue to inspire us for years to come.

Married to his high school sweetheart Selma Colvin in 1966, the two built a family, a law firm, a house, and a beautiful life together. A devoted supporter of local sports, he was a proud fan of the North Bay Centennials and later of the North Bay Battalion, cheering from the stands or wherever he happened to be.

He will forever be watching over those he loved including his rock and rockstar wife Selma, his daughter Robyn (Tobel), his son Jeff (Julie), his wonderful grandchildren River Colvin-Smith (Cadence), Maguire Colvin-Smith (Charlie), and Mateo Colvin, and brother Robert Colvin (Charlene).

We extend heartfelt thanks to the many teams of healthcare professionals who have helped him over the past few years, including family doctors Brian and Katherine Shaw, the ACU, the hospital lab, the kidney clinic, cardiac clinic, geriatric clinic, and most recently the emergency room staff, as well as the caring and compassionate team at Serenity Hospice.

A friend remarked that he “affirmed my hope that a good lawyer could be a decent and honorable person who could also have a little fun along the way” and we couldn’t agree more.

Friends may drop in to extend condolences and share memories between the hours of 11am and 2pm on Saturday January 11, 2025, at Hillside Funeral Services in North Bay. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Online condolences can be made at www.hillsidefuneral.ca
