RUSSELL, ROBERT
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Russell on Sunday, September 6th, 2026, at the age of 75.
He was the beloved husband to Ilse Russell (Reif) for 53 years. Loving father to Tina Crewson (David), Keith (Brandi) and Terry-Lynn Forest (Jeff). Robert was predeceased by his parents Howard and Gloria and his brother Greg.
Robert is survived by his siblings Tod (Pauline) and Sid Price (Joan). He will be missed dearly by his 9 grandchildren Alexus, Cody, Abigail, Fiona, Wesley, Corvyn, Alexis, Kyla-Rae, and Brenden. Proud great-grandfather to Hudson, Everleigh, Oliver, Ellianna and Elijah. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and all that knew him.
Robert was a selfless man who gave of himself to anyone that needed him. He was a Life-Member of the West Ferris Legion, Branch 599 with over 50 years of service. He enjoyed a 30 year career with the Near North District School Board starting as a custodian and working his way to Facilities Services Supervisor for the Almaguin Family of Schools.
He loved the outdoors with fond memories of time spent with family and friends at Tilden Lake. Robert loved fishing, and if you were ever looking for him, chances are he was at the golf course with his buddies. He always took pride in his flower gardens and manicured lawn. A life-long love of hockey as a player, coach and mentor continued to take him to the arena, as he was a long-time supporter of the North Bay Battalion.
Nothing gave him greater pleasure than trying to keep up with all of his grandchildren and their activities and he could always be seen in the stands cheering them on.
As per Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. A celebration of life will take place on October 4th, 2026, from 1pm to 4pm at the West Ferris Legion, Branch 599, 30 Legion Drive, North Bay, ON. A light luncheon will be served.
Donations in honour of Robert’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The family would like to thank Dr. Wendy Graham and Martyn Funeral Home.
