Service Partners have elevated the municipal levy by 2/3s

By Richard Coffin

Budget meetings are lined up for early March at city hall.

The initial recommendation from staff is a 5.5 per cent increase in the tax levy, or six million dollars.

A staff report says increased budgets for Service Partners have elevated the strain on the municipal levy.

“City operations have resulted in an overall levy change of 1.74% and Service Partners 3.76%,” states the report.

The proposed operating budget is just over 165-million, to cover the daily costs of running city services.

Deliberations are lined up for March 3 and 4.

Staff say on an annual basis, the increase equals about $76 per $100,000 of residential assessment value.
