Smile Cookies are returning later this month at Tim Hortons and several area groups are benefiting.

The chocolate chunk cookies with an icing smile will be available from April 27 to May 3.

Restaurants in the city are supporting the North Bay and District Humane Society while the location at the hospital is supporting the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation.

The foundation says it will help fund critical upgrades to X-ray equipment.

“Our Radiology team performs over 50,000 X-rays each year, supporting the Emergency Department, inpatient care, outpatient clinics, and community physicians,” states a release. “These upgrades will make a real difference for thousands of patients who rely on fast, accurate imaging every day.”

The Humane Society says funds raised from the Smile Cookie campaign will support sheltering, veterinary care, dietary food, medicines, vaccines, and more.

Officials say more than one thousand pets call the shelter home annually.

Other Tim Hortons locations are supporting a variety of causes.

The Education Centre location is supporting Food Banks Canada and Wolves Den is supporting Nipissing First Nation Child Care Centres.

Community Living West Nipissing, Community Living Mattawa and the Burk’s Falls and District Food Bank are benefiting in those communities.
