Several local Northern Ontario Music and Film Award winners honoured

Half a dozen winners of Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards (NOMFA) involve people or projects from our area.

Matthieu Thibeault, who’s originally from North Bay and now West Nipissing, won Outstanding Songwriter and Vocal Performance.

North Bay’s Peach Pact won Outstanding Music Video.

In the film category, Bryan Cranston won Outstanding Actor – Long Format, for Everything’s Going to be Great, which was filmed in North Bay.

The movie also won Outstanding Feature film.

Screenwriter honours go to Cheryl Meyer, for All the Lost Ones, which was filmed in North Bay.

There were 21 people or projects from the area nominated this year.

Cultural Industries Ontario North (CION) announced the winners on Saturday, June 20, during the NOMFA award ceremony at Place des Arts in Sudbury.

CION says its three-day conference, which ran from June 18-20, reached new total attendance records, reflecting the growth of the music, film, and television industries in the North.
