Seymour Street Reconstruction Work Begins August 6

Seymour Street Reconstruction Work Begins August 6

Starting Wednesday, Aug. 6, Canor Construction Inc. will begin installing traffic control on Seymour Street (Station to Commerce) and Cholette Street (Hwy 11/17 to Station) as part of the Seymour Street Reconstruction Project.

Drilling will also take place west of Commerce to assess bedrock conditions ahead of retaining wall construction. Traffic delays are expected, with flaggers on-site to direct vehicles.

The Seymour Street Reconstruction Project is a major infrastructure initiative designed to improve safety, enhance traffic flow, and support long-term transportation needs. Key components of the project include:

·        Widening Seymour to three lanes (eastbound, westbound, center turn lane).

·        New traffic signals and pedestrian crossing at Seymour/Commerce/Venture.

·        Wider intersection and curb radii to accommodate truck turns.

·        120m retaining wall with handrail on the north side west of Commerce.

·        Paved shoulders on both sides from Station to Wallace.

·        Sidewalk extension west of Station on the north side.

Work is scheduled to continue through to November 2026.
