It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Walker announces her sudden passing on January 4th, 2026 in North Bay, at the age of 73.

 She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Paul Walker. Cherished mother of Owen Walker and Becky Walker (Nic Brownrigg). Daughter of the late Don and Jean Pearce, sister of the late Brian Pearce (Cindy) and survived by her brother Jim Pearce (Virginia). Also survived by her sister-in-law Louise McGraw, and brothers in law Philip Walker (Kelly) and David Walker (Donna). She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

 Sharon was a graduate of the University of Waterloo and Western University Althouse teachers’ college. She worked as a special education teacher for 30 years in Brantford, Sudbury, and the east Parry Sound and Near North school boards.

 Sharon was passionate and very committed to advocating and developing services for autistic individuals in North Bay. She was one of the original founders of the P.A.D.D.L.E program. She was chair of the S.E.A.C (Special Education Advisory Committee) in North Bay for many years. She was also a long-standing member of the University of Women’s club and served on the executive committee of the Retired Teachers of Ontario-North Bay Chapter as the political affairs officer.

 The family would like to thank the valiant efforts of the North Bay paramedics and North Bay fire department.

 A special thanks to all of her PSWs and nurses over the years. She greatly enjoyed the companionship and the daily visits.

 As per Sharon’s wishes, cremation has taken place; services by Hillside Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to charity of your choosing. Online condolences may be left at hillsidefuneral.ca.

 A celebration of life will be scheduled in the spring.
