Shaw and Tremblay drop Paralympic quarterfinals

After winning his opening draw on Saturday, North Bay's Rob Shaw lost his quad singles quarterfinals match in wheelchair tennis at the Paris Paralympics on Monday.
He dropped a straight sets decision (6-0, 6-0) to number 2 ranked Niels Vink of the Netherlands. Shaw was the lone Canadian wheelchair tennis player competing in Paris. He earlier defeated Brazilian Ymanitu Silva in straight sets (6-2, 6-1) to reach the quarterfinals.
Meantime, in para-archery, Canadore grad Kyle Tremblay lost his quarterfinal by mere millimeters in a shoot-off to the world number one ranked athlete from India.
“It is my first Paralympics, so just getting here was very special,” he says in a release. “I think this has just fueled me even more for Los Angeles and my training will just improve and I will improve and you can expect a better Tremblay for 2028.”
Tremblay is from Deep River.
