Smile Cookies Making a Difference

Holiday Smile Cookie campaign supporting several area groups

By Richard Coffin

Several area groups are benefiting from the return on Tim Horton’s Holiday Smile Cookie campaign.

Across Canada, 100 per cent of the proceeds are donated to local charities and community groups, along with Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

Tim’s locations in the city are supporting the North Bay Food Bank while Algonquin Nursing Home is benefiting in Mattawa.

Proceeds from the cookies sold at the Wolves Den on Highway 17 West are going to Nipissing First Nation Walking Alongside Services, while the Sturgeon Falls Volunteer Toy Drive is benefiting in West Nipissing.

Armour Township’s recreation department is benefiting in Burk’s Falls.

“Since 1996, Canadians have shown incredible support for our iconic Smile Cookie program, which has now raised over $129 million for charities and community groups,” says Axel Schwan, President of Tim Hortons. “Last year we launched the inaugural Holiday Smile Cookie campaign and it was an amazing success, raising $9.8 million. We’re looking forward to serving Canadians millions of hand-decorated Holiday Smile Cookies starting today and together supporting over 400 local charities and community groups, including Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.”

The Tim Hortons Holiday Smile Cookie is a white chocolate sugar cookie with baked-in red and green sprinkles, with a white icing smile face.
