Smile for the Camera, Police Make Arrest

Officers from the North Bay Police Service have made an arrest in a convenience store robbery that took place on January 12th, 2024, on Fisher Street, North Bay. The accused was also charged with several other offences in relation to other matters.
On the 12th of January, at approximately 10:20 am, officers from the North Bay Police Service were called to a robbery at a Fisher Street convenience store. Officers arrived on scene within one minute of the call, however the accused had fled on foot. The investigation revealed that the accused had entered the convenience store and advised the clerk that he had weapons, and not to approach him. The accused then proceeded to the area behind the counter and removed a quantity of cigarettes from the shelf and placed them in a bag.
The accused then left the store on foot towards the downtown. Officers viewed the CCTV footage and identified the accused. During the investigation it was found that the accused had also been involved in numerous thefts at other local establishments in North Bay. The accused was located and arrested on January 22nd.
The accused in this matter is 37-year-old Nathan Hewitt, of North Bay, who is charged with 5 different offences. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
