SMITH, Albert “Al” Oscar Joseph
Peacefully passed away, surrounded by the love of his family, at Northern Heights Care Community (North Bay) on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the age of 87. Al was the beloved husband of Angela (née Tsachoff) Smith, and the loving father of John Smith (Shirley), Mark Smith, and Shelley Ortepi (Robert). He was the cherished grandfather of Jeff, Daryl (Penny), Caitlin (Kerston), and Haley, and the proud great-grandfather of Jacoby, Elliette, and Blair. He will be reunited with his dearly missed siblings Margaret, Jane, Isabelle, Irene, Leona, David, and Diane. Al was predeceased by his parents, Eugene Smith and Lumina (Minnie) Smith.
Al was an enthusiastic fisherman, a lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and a devoted member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish. He was proud to be recognized as a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
The family will receive visitors at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Sunday, November 23, 2025, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be celebrated in the McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or Diabetes Canada would be gratefully acknowledged by his family.
