Solid rock berm being built to protect from flooding in Mattawa
Phase I of a solid rock berm on Mattawan Street in Mattawa is expected to be completed Tuesday.
Town officials say construction on the berm got started with the level of the Mattawa River continuing to rise.
They say if the river rises significantly more the berm will be elevated accordingly.

With Tuesday’s rain, the town says the Mattawa area could see water levels at or above the major flood threshold in the next few days.
They add there is plenty of sand available for bagging at the Mike Rodden Arena. for those who need it.
