Two local youth bowlers from Partners Billiards and Bowling in North Bay are heading to nationals in Edmonton in early May.
Mya Labonté and Marley Pedskalny (pictured above) won gold in the Bantam Girls team division at the Northern Ontario Provincials in Dryden on the weekend.
They were 6th at nationals last year.
20 local youth bowlers competed on the weekend.
Sadie Tremblay and Leah Spurvey (pictured right) won bronze in the senior girls’ team division.

Max Hodgins with the North Bay Nordic Ski Racers won a gold and a silver in U10 boys at the Nordic Ontario Youth Championship.
The event took place at Arrowhead Provincial Park on the weekend.
Eleven local athletes competed with officials saying many had top 10 and top 20 finishes.

The West Ferris 63s U19B team won gold at a tournament in Niagara Falls on the weekend.
They won the final 2-1 in overtime over a team from Chatham.
Layla Lefrançois scored the overtime winner for the 63s.

West Ferris is hosting the OFSAA-AA boys basketball tournament this week.
The Trojans first game is against an Ottawa school Monday at 10 am.
Chippewa, meantime, is in Kingston for the AAA championship while Algonquin is in Toronto for the OFSAA-A tournament.
In girls volleyball, Chippewa is hosting the OFSAA-AA championship this week.
The Ravens play an Ottawa school in their first game Monday at 9 am.
In high school hockey, St. Joseph-Scollard Hall, Chippewa and Algonquin are playing in the NOSSA boys’ tournament at Memorial Gardens.
The girls’ championship sees the Bears and Barons competing at Pete Palangio arena.

The Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team will play Waterloo in the second round of the playoffs, starting Wednesday on the road.
The Lakers advanced after defeating Queens 2-1 in game two of their series on Friday.
Tessa Kosec and Malory Dominico scored in the victory.
Nipissing won the first round series in two straight games.
In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos only had one game on the weekend.
They lost a 5-3 decision to Kirkland Lake on Friday.
