‘Spring surge’ in job postings tapers off
The Labour Market Group (LMG) says there were 510 job postings in April.
That’s down nearly 11% from the ‘spring surge’ in March.
“This dip suggests a stabilization of the market after the initial Q1 hiring push,” states LMG’s Monthly Jobs Report for April. “The current volume also sits 8.3% (-46) lower than April 2025 and 5% below the historical four-year average for the month. This cooling trend is further evidenced by a 7.3% contraction (-18) in employer participation.”

The top five employers posting jobs include:
– North Bay Regional Health Centre
– Cementation Canada
– West Nipissing General Hospital
– Nipissing University
– Ontario Northland
Health Care & Social Assistance was the top hiring industry in April.
Retail Trade was next, followed by Educational Services.
