Still time for families in need
As applications for this year’s North Bay Santa Fund continue to be accepted, officials say there’s a new challenge they’re facing.
They say in July, nearly $30,000 worth of toys and food at the LIPI Toy House were destroyed by fire.
“Although insurance provided $23,000 in coverage, the depreciation meant a significant shortfall,” states a release. “Despite this setback, the team at LIPI has worked tirelessly to rebuild the inventory and continue this cherished tradition.”
This is the 77th annual North Bay Santa Fund with the fundraising goal of $175,000.
One of the highlight events is the 106.3 Jet FM and Country 90.5 FM Santa Fund Radiothon.
It’s taking place on Friday, Dec. 6, raising money and awareness for the Santa Fund.
“Their support is invaluable,” says Geoff Richardson, co-chair. “We deeply appreciate Peter Hobbs and the team for their dedication to the Santa Fund.”
Bands, choirs and organizations are invited to submit submissions of their Christmas music (originals or covers) at mynorthbaynow.com, which may be played during the radiothon.
Volunteers will pack the hundreds of baskets on Dec. 22 at Canadore College, with deliver the next day.
Applications to the Santa Fund from families in need are being accepted at the LIPI office at 127 Main East until Nov. 29.
