Stolen vehicle investigation leads to two arrests

By Richard Coffin

City police have charged two North Bay residents, a 38-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, after a stolen vehicle investigation.

Police say a vehicle was taken from the 700 block of Lakeshore at about 5 am on Aug. 17.

It was recovered by police about five and a half hours later on Strathcona Drive and returned to the owner.

The investigation led to the arrest of two people, one this past Sunday and the other on Tuesday.

“Responding officers quickly recovered the stolen property and returned it to its rightful owner,” says A/Deputy Jeff Warner. “They continued to follow the evidence and identify those responsible. This type of behaviour is unacceptable, and we will continue to work to ensure those responsible for criminal behaviour are brought to justice.”

Both of the accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
