Stolen vehicle recovered at traffic stop

Two people are facing charges after Mattawa OPP recovered a stolen vehicle during a traffic stop.

The vehicle was pulled over last Saturday night on Highway 17 in Papineau-Cameron Township.  Police say open liquor, suspected cannabis and oxycodone were also located inside the vehicle.

The 33-year-old driver from Montreal faces several charges including driving without a licence, drug possession and property obtained by crime over $5,000.

A 29-year-old passenger from Newmarket is charged with drug possession. Both were released from custody and have September court appearances in North Bay.
