Stolen Vehicle Recovered through R.I.D.E. Program

Proactive patrol efforts by the North Bay Police Service led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of one man.
On August 9, 2025, at approximately 11:48 p.m., officers conducting a proactive R.I.D.E. stop, identified and charged an unlicensed driver. In absence of a licensed driver, the vehicle was towed after officers were unable to contact the registered owner.
Further investigation determined the vehicle had been involved in a collision earlier that day, with the driver allegedly fleeing the scene. The vehicle had been subsequently reported stolen from a business in the Jet Street area. Investigators were able to connect the accused and the vehicle to all related incidents.
A short time later the accused was located and arrested without incident. He was transported to North Bay Police Service headquarters and later released on an Undertaking with a court date of September 16, 2025.
Aaron Desrochers, 32, of North Bay, is charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Fail to Stop After Accident
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence
- Unsafe Move – Lane
- Fail to Comply with Probation
“Although this incident initially seemed minor, the dedication and persistent work of our members uncovered a series of much more serious occurrences,” said Insp. McFarlane. “Officers ensured the accused was identified and held responsible for all events that put the community at risk.”
