Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor visited West Nipissing this week.
The Honourable Edith Dumont marked Francophonie Month by recognizing the vibrant Francophone community in the area.
“The visit aims to deepen ties with communities in Northern Ontario and celebrate the region’s rich francophone heritage and culture,” states a release.

She visited several locations in Sturgeon Falls on Monday and Tuesday.
They include the Municipal Building, the West Nipissing Community Health Centre, multiple local schools, and Club Richelieu for a community dinner.
Specific events include a meeting with West Nipissing’s Mayor, a Women in Leadership Afternoon Tea, meeting students and school officials at Franco-Cité, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Elementary School, Nipissing Ouest and Northern Secondary School, along with representatives from Collège Boréal.
On Tuesday evening, Dumont will participate in ‘Souper de la Francophonie’, a community dinner hosted by a local Francophone community organization in Sturgeon Falls.
