Sudbury Community Holding Vigil for Missing Councilor Michael Vagnini

Organizers of the Walden Winter Carnival have added an important event to the weekend plans – a candlelight vigil for the safe return of missing Ward 2 councillor Michael Vagnini.

Following the close of the official opening night events, the community is invited to gather at the Carnival’s bonfire site at the upper lot of T.M. Davies Community Centre for a candlelight vigil. Start time is expected to be 8pm.

“It’s a message of hope,” said spokesperson Richard Eberhardt.

“We are coming together as a community while someone important to us is missing. This is our chance to express how much we want to see Michael back home with his family.”

It is clear members of Greater Sudbury Council have Councilor Vagnini in their thoughts, prayers and are thinking of him and his family.

In a recent Facebook post, Ward 5 Councilor Mike Parent stated "It’s been 9 days since our colleague on council Michael Vagnini, has gone missing. I, like other members of council, am in disbelief that so much time has passed with no sign of him. I continue to pray for him and for his Family".

The event is expected to last until 8:30 pm.
