Sundridge Centennial School hosting ‘trunk or treat’ event on Halloween
It’s called ‘Trunk or Treat’ and Sundridge Centennial Public School is holding the community hub event on Halloween.
Rural community members are invited to fill the trunks of their vehicles with Halloween candy and gather in a more centrally-located area to hand out the treats.
“Many of our rural community members do not get to experience trick-or-treaters. They want to show support and enjoy seeing the young community members dressed up, excitedly enjoying the evening,” says Principal Jill Cooper. “A Trunk or Treat provides an opportunity to connect all community members making a safe and enjoyable evening for all.”
The initial idea to open the school as a warming station and washroom came about after a cold and snowy Halloween last year.
It was then further expanded to become the school’s inaugural ‘Trunk or Treat’ event, with the proposal coming from Parent Council Deputy Chair JP Bressan.
Those looking to take part are asked to register by contacting Principal Cooper at the school (705-472-5101 ext. 8023) by Oct. 25.
The event takes place from 5 pm to 8 pm on Oct. 31.
Student volunteers from Almaguin Highlands Secondary School, the OPP, Sundridge Strong Volunteer Fire Fighters and others will be contributing their time and effort to organizing and managing the event.
