Supporting Life Saving Care at NBRHC

Community Raises $133,884
The 19th annual Our Hospital Walk/Run had just over 530 participants and volunteers and raised $133,884 on Sunday morning. Proceeds from this year’s Walk/Run are supporting state-of-the-art medical equipment and services to care for our community.
This year’s opening ceremonies featured the courageous testimony of Tiffany Van Meer, who received life-saving care at NBRHC. “I have battled depression, anxiety, and PTSD since childhood—it has been almost five decades of carrying those challenges. After years of struggling, one day I reached the darkest place I had ever known. I had no hope left. I could see no light ahead of me. Everything inside me said, don’t go on… giving up will finally end the pain,” she stated.

She sought care at the Emergency Department at NBRHC, sharing the hospital was her last chance to find the hope and light she had lost. Tiffany was met with compassion from the very start. “Every single person treated me with dignity, kindness, and respect. They kept me safe. They found me a place in the hospital’s acute psychiatric ward. That care saved my life.
Care supported and enhanced through fundraising events like Our Hospital Walk/Run.

This year also marked a very special celebration as the City of North Bay celebrates its Centennial. Participants joined together in a rousing “Happy Birthday,” enjoyed cupcakes, and reflected on the more than 100 year history of healthcare and hospital services in our region - a reminder that the growth of our city and our hospital have been intertwined from the very beginning.

Adding to the energy of the day was Damnit Maurie, from The Roz & Mocha Show on KISS 100.5, who emceed the event and brought his signature enthusiasm to the start line and celebrations.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of sponsors and donors, along with participants and volunteers who make this day possible,” said Tammy Morison, Foundation President and CEO. “Our Hospital Walk/Run is our community’s largest annual fundraiser for our Health Centre and has an impact on its ability to provide exceptional care, close to home. Many of our supporters have been part of this event since the beginning. As we gear up to celebrate 20 years next year, I am truly humbled by the incredible support of our community year after year.”
